Blackwood

A delightful gem of accommodation in beautiful Metung. Positive: The villa is in a beautiful location - it overlooks the water, surrounded by trees and plenty of birdlife including crimson rosellas and kookaburras. With two-storey accommodation, there is a large balcony off the living and dining areas, as well as another balcony off the front bedroom, giving plenty of space to enjoy the outdoors. Everything necessary for a week-long stay is supplied and there is a full-size kitchen for people like us who like to do most of our own cooking while on holiday. However the village centre of Metung is only a few minutes drive away (or a longer walk along the boardwalk) for those looking for a café or hotel to dine at. The cleanliness and upkeep of the property is excellent and the owners are very approachable and friendly when contacted, responding quickly to correspondence. One of our favourite things about the villa is its fireplace, with a good supply of firewood outside the door. Being wintertime, we loved getting cosy in front of the fire every evening with a good book or in front of the widescreen television. We were sorry to leave as Blackwood Villa is such a peaceful and relaxing place to stay! Negative: The only very minor issue for us was that the villa only has one toilet, which is upstairs. As it was only the two of us staying there, this was manageable. But for people with mobility issues, having to climb a flight of stairs from the living areas to use the toilet, can be more difficult. Also, the villa has accommodation for 6 people, so having only one toilet when you have a full house might be a problem. Mind you, this is a “first world” problem only. The majority of the world live without any toilet.

Positive: Beautiful setting and really comfortable accommodation. Exactly what we were after, would stay there again. Negative: Nothing really.

We had a 2 night stay at the Blackwood Villa and highly recommend this Villa and complex. Villa was equipped with everything you require and was spotless. Will definitely stay here next time we visit Metung.
